How it works

The clock starts on your first click and stops one second later. There is no pacing decision to make and no room to recover from a slow start.

Over a window this short your CPS and your peak CPS are the same number. Peak is measured across any one second, and one second is all there is.

Expect scatter. Land one click late out of ten and you have lost a tenth of your score, which is why single runs here vary far more than on longer tests.
Common questions
Why is my 1 second score so much higher than my 5 second score?
Because you never have to slow down. Most people open somewhere between 10 and 14 CPS and then decay, and a one second window only ever sees the opening. For a number that reflects how fast you actually click, use a longer test.
Is one second long enough to measure anything?
It measures one thing well — your ceiling — and consistency not at all. Treat it as the top of your range rather than your score, and run it several times, because the spread between attempts is wide.
Does the timer start when the page loads?
No, it starts on your first click, so the moment you spend getting your hand into position never counts against you. That matters more here than anywhere else on the site.
